Deutsch: Die Kasernierte Volkspolizei (KVP) ist der militärische Vorläufer der Nationalen Volksarmee. Ihre Geschichte begann am 1. Juli 1952, als zunächst die Bereitschaften (Regimenter) der Hauptverwaltung Ausbildung des Ministeriums des Innern der DDR (MdI) in Divisionen der Landstreitkräfte formiert wurden. Der Hauptstab lag anfangs in Berlin-Adlershof (Rudower Chaussee) und ab Juni 1954 in Strausberg. Die KVP-Uniform ähnelte im Schnitt der Heeresuniform der Wehrmacht, Grundfarbe war zuerst dunkelblau und dann hellbraun.
English: Kasernierte Volkspolizei (KVP, German for Barracked People's Police) were the military units of the Volkspolizei (police) in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Formed in 1948 (under different name) these units became basis of the National People's Army established in 1956.
